Why summer is the best time to talk about family money

Summer slows life down just enough for the conversations we usually avoid, especially the ones about money. On RTHK’s Money Talk, I talked about how July creates rare moments of connection — family gatherings, holidays, long afternoons — that make financial conversations feel natural rather than stressful. With wealth becoming more global and families managing assets across borders, these talks matter more than ever.

I shared how curiosity, simple questions and small teachable moments with kids can turn money into a family story instead of a taboo. Summer gives us space, and when we use it well, financial clarity becomes much easier. Listen to the interview here.
